Solutions / Text-to-Speech

Governed speech synthesis across every provider.

Route audio speech synthesis through the ManyLayers gateway — one OpenAI-compatible endpoint, your choice of provider, per-team spend controls, and voice replies directly inside Workspace chat.

The problem

Audio pipelines are ungoverned and expensive to audit.

Teams calling speech APIs directly have no shared cost visibility, no content screening before synthesis, and no way to attribute audio spend across departments. Changing synthesis providers means updating every service individually — slowing vendor evaluation and creating lock-in.

The outcome

One endpoint, full control over every audio request.

ManyLayers routes speech synthesis through the same governed gateway used for text and images. Provider config lives in one place. Per-team rate limits and spend caps prevent overruns. Every request is logged for cost attribution and compliance review.

Capabilities

End-to-end governance for audio synthesis workloads.

OpenAI-Compatible Speech Endpoint

The /v1/audio/speech endpoint accepts the same request format as OpenAI's TTS API. Existing clients work without modification. Supports MP3, Opus, AAC, and FLAC output formats.

Provider Routing

Route speech synthesis to OpenAI TTS, ElevenLabs, Google Cloud TTS, or self-hosted TTS models deployed on your infrastructure. Switch providers without changing a single line of application code.

Voice Replies in Workspace Chat

Workspace agents can deliver voice responses directly in team chat interfaces. Enable voice for specific agents or channels without building audio infrastructure — the gateway handles synthesis and delivery.

Per-Team Rate & Spend Limits

Audio synthesis costs compound quickly at scale. Apply per-team character-per-minute rate limits and monthly spend caps. Hard limits stop runaway jobs; alerts notify before thresholds are reached.

Content Screening

Input text is screened against guardrail rules before being sent to any synthesis provider. Enforce script policies and block restricted content categories in automated pipelines.

Request Audit Log

Every speech request is logged with caller, team, provider, character count, and cost. Identify which pipelines drive the most audio spend and attribute costs accurately across departments.

Request flow

From text input to governed audio output.

01
Application calls /v1/audio/speech with text and voice parameters
02
Gateway applies content guardrails and checks per-team rate limits
03
Routing rules select synthesis provider based on team config or alias
04
Audio stream returned to caller; character count billed against team budget
05
Audit entry written with provider, duration, cost, and guardrail outcome

“We piloted three TTS providers in a week without touching any application code. ManyLayers routed the traffic, tracked the cost per team, and we picked the winner based on actual usage data rather than benchmark scores.”
